Kraków Red — Nanhong Agate Ring, Persimmon Frost

Persimmon frost nanhong is the most saturated variety of southern red agate — a uniform, deep red with no translucency, no variation, just colour at full intensity. Collectors consider it the benchmark against which other nanhong is measured. The name comes from the colour of a ripe persimmon in late autumn: not orange-red, not pink-red, but the specific red that sits exactly between them.

The same stone that travelled from Chinese mountains to Polish royal courts, now worn as a ring. The form is different. The material carries the same history.

This ring is cut from a single piece of persimmon frost nanhong — the colour is consistent across the entire surface, which is rare. The form is simple: a flat-topped band that lets the stone speak without interruption. The red under direct light is different from the red in shadow. Both are worth looking at.
